About Althea
I found yoga at a crossroads in my life. While working in NYC for a large corporation, I felt disconnected from myself and the life I wanted to live. I took a leap of faith, left my job, and moved to a place that felt more aligned with who I was becoming.
Salem, MA is where I found my true love for yoga. The first class I ever took lit a fire inside of me and right away, I knew I needed to learn more. I dedicated myself to my practice and quickly felt immense shifts happening within. I felt connected to myself in a way I never knew was possible, and quickly realized how much more grounded and inspired I felt in my day-to-day life. I was able to show up in the world in a more compassionate, centered, and authentic way because of the work I was doing on the mat. I was hooked.
This passion led me to pursue my 200-hour yoga teacher training from The Salty Buddha. Diving deeper into the practice and path of yoga was a healing and transformational experience for me. From there, I started teaching regularly and fell in love with the practice even more. Not only was I deeply committed to my own yoga practice, I was able to hold space for others on their journey to self discovery and unconditional love.
After teaching for some time, I had the privilege of traveling to India and Bali, where I completed 350 hours of additional teacher training. My studies abroad deepened my understanding of yoga’s philosophy, traditions, and roots. These experiences inspire me deeply, and shape the way I teach today – with authenticity, humility, and deep respect for the practice and philosophy of yoga.
Today I am a 550-hour certified yoga teacher trained in vinyasa, hatha, restorative, and yin yoga. I am also a certified barre & Pilates instructor. My classes are introspective, trauma-informed, and suitable for all levels.
I believe the practice of yoga is alchemy for the body, mind, and soul. It is a transformative practice, if you are willing to look inside and embark on a path of self-exploration and greater understanding. The journey starts within, and radiates outward. I am passionate about the power of the practice and the potential it holds to changes lives and ultimately the world.
My classes weave together movement, breath, yogic philosophy, mantra, and intention-setting to create practices that extend far beyond the mat. Yoga is more than a physical practice. It is an ongoing journey of self-discovery that invites us to slow down, listen inward, and reconnect with our own inner wisdom and truth.
I am grateful and honored to share the practice of yoga with others. This is my dharma.
